[Contextual Reconstruction: Recovering Social Discourse]
Textum Club Zine Vol.2 revisits the socio-cultural contexts surrounding the phrases printed on T-Shirts, based on an archive of approximately 50 “slogan T-shirts” collected from a secondhand T-Shirt shop in Korea in 2022.
While Vol.1 examined slogans themselves as strategies of irony and subversion, Vol.2 traces the historical moments and political implications these phrases invoke within the specific histories of brands, events, and regions.
By reconstructing meanings that were forgotten or fragmented through circulation, the zine asks what has been erased by the time a short phrase finally reaches us.
We hope this book becomes a small occasion to pause, look again, and reread a single T-Shirt encountered in everyday life.
[맥락적 재구성, 사회적 담론의 복원]
텍스텀 클럽 Zine Vol.2는 2022년 한국의 한 중고 티셔츠 가게에서 수집한 약 50장의 ‘문구 티셔츠’ 아카이브를 바탕으로, 티셔츠 문장이 놓여 있던 사회문화적 맥락을 다시 찾아봅니다.
Vol.1에서 문구 자체를 ‘아이러니와 전복의 전략’으로 해부했다면, Vol.2에서는 특정 브랜드와 행사, 지역의 역사 속에서 문장이 호출하는 시대적 배경과 정치적 함의를 추적합니다.
그리고 유통 과정에서 잊히거나 조각난 의미를 재구성하며, 짧은 문장이 우리 앞에 도착하기까지 무엇이 지워졌는지를 질문합니다.
이 책이 일상 속 티셔츠 한 장 앞에서 잠시 멈춰 서서 다시 보고, 다시 읽게 만드는 작은 계기가 되기를 바랍니다.
