[Mendwork Skirt]
This skirt was made by applying mending stitches learned in a workshop by the mending artist Celia Pym, interpreted in my own way. What left a strong impression was how Celia Pym expands the act of mending beyond simple restoration into a form of decorative intervention. The skirt itself was discovered in a secondhand shop. It is a small-sized skirt with a length that felt most ideal when worn by a woman who is 164 cm tall, and the work was developed based on the form in which it was originally found. At first glance, it has a neat silhouette close to office wear, but when worn it gives a rather casual impression. Using mending stitches, parts of a jacquard fabric favored by Sehikyo were cut and patchworked onto the skirt. The traces of mending and the different textures of fabric come together to create a new expression. The skirt can be worn on its own, but it also works well layered over CEIMOU trousers. It could be styled with a thin, low-neck T-shirt and a CEIMOU scarf.

Mendwork Skirt는 수선 아티스트 Celia Pym의 수선 워크숍을 통해 습득한 수선 스티치를 나름의 방식으로 적용해 만든 스커트입니다. Celia Pym이 수선의 방식을 단순한 복원에 그치지 않고 하나의 장식적 개입으로 확장한 점이 인상 깊었습니다. 이 스커트는 중고샵에서 발견한 스커트입니다. 키 164cm의 여성이 착용했을 때 가장 이상적이라고 느낀 길이의 스몰 사이즈로, 발견 당시의 형태를 바탕으로 작업을 진행했습니다. 언뜻 보면 오피스웨어에 가까운 단정한 실루엣을 가지고 있지만, 실제로 착용하면 비교적 캐주얼한 인상을 줍니다. 또한 수선 스티치를 이용해 세히쿄가 좋아하는 자카드 원단의 일부를 잘라 패치워크 했습니다. 수선의 흔적과 서로 다른 원단의 결이 만나면서 스커트에 새로운 표정을 만들어냅니다. 이 스커트는 단독으로 착용해도 좋지만, CEIMOU의 트라우저와 함께 레이어드해 입는 것도 잘 어울립니다. 목이 파인 얇은 티셔츠에 CEIMOU의 스카프를 더해 스타일링해보는 것도 추천합니다.
