[Boroboro Sleeveless Cardigan]
This sleeveless cardigan has a striped pattern made with purple and ivory yarn. It’s designed to open on both the front and back, with more buttonholes than buttons. When all the buttons are fastened, it forms a shape that wraps around the neck, while leaving some buttons undone creates a natural collar. You can decide how to wear it and choose how much to open or close it, giving this cardigan a slightly more distinctive touch. At first glance, the cardigan looks tightly knitted, but I deliberately adjusted the tension and looseness of the yarn in certain areas. The finished piece gives off a relaxed and comfortable feel, encouraging you to take it easy and enjoy a sense of calm.
The word ‘Boroboro (ボロボロ)’ is a Japanese term that describes something worn-out or tattered. This cardigan evokes the warmth and nostalgia of pulling out a well-loved piece from an old wardrobe, so I thought the name suited it perfectly.
The buttons on the front and back are different. The front buttons are vintage purple ones I found in a small shop in Lausanne, Switzerland. They seemed to carry a bit of history, so I brought them back as a memento of that day. While making this cardigan, I used a variety of purple yarns, a colour I adore. Recently, I heard about a purple tote bag launch from CEIMOU, and that small joy naturally found its way into the process of creating this piece.
[양쪽이 열리는 민소매 가디건]
보라색과 아이보리색 실이 교차해 스트라이프 무늬를 이루는 민소매 가디건입니다. 앞뒤 양쪽이 열리는 구조로, 단추보다 단추 구멍이 더 많습니다. 단추를 모두 채우면 목을 감싸는 형태가 되고, 몇 개를 풀어두면 자연스러운 카라가 형성됩니다. 옷을 다루는 방식과 열고 닫는 정도를 스스로 선택할 수 있다는 점에서 이 가디건은 특별한 가능성을 제공합니다. 처음에는 촘촘히 짜여진 옷처럼 보이지만, 실의 텐션과 짜임을 일부러 느슨하게 조정하여 작업했습니다. 완성된 옷은 긴장이 풀린 듯한 편안함을 느끼게 하고, 옷을 통해 마음의 여유를 떠올리게 한다는 점이 마음에 들었습니다.

앞뒤의 단추는 서로 다르게 구성했습니다. 앞쪽 단추는 스위스 로잔의 작은 부자재 가게에서 발견한 보라색 빈티지 단추로, 오래된 시간의 흔적이 배어 있는 듯해 그날의 기억과 함께 가져왔습니다. 작업을 하며 제가 좋아하는 보라색 실을 다양하게 사용했습니다. 최근 세이모우에서 보라색 토트백이 출시되었다는 소식을 들었을 때 느꼈던 소소한 기쁨도 자연스레 이 옷을 만드는 과정에 스며들었습니다.
