세히쿄(SEHIKYO)는 일본 도쿄와 한국 서울을 기반으로 하는 패션 연구 및 실천을 위한 프로젝트입니다. 세히쿄는 사용의 흔적이 묻어나는 재료로 옷을 만들고 손뜨개, 바느질 등의 활동을 통해 옷의 물질적 속성에 주목합니다. 이러한 DIY 접근법은 의류의 개인적, 사회적 의미에 대한 탐구를 촉진합니다. 궁극적으로 세히쿄는 협력적인 ’옷과 착용‘의 개념을 공유하며, 다양한 패션 관점을 장려하고 패션 산업에서 지배적인 소비자 문화를 지속적으로 질문하는 것을 목표로 합니다.
SEHIKYO is a project for fashion research and practice based in Seoul and Tokyo. SEHIKYO creates clothing from materials with traces of use, emphasising materiality through hand knitting and sewing. This DIY approach fosters exploration of the personal and social meanings of clothing. SEHIKYO aims to share the idea of collaborative ”clothing and wearing“, encouraging diverse fashion perspectives and continuously questioning the dominant consumer culture in the fashion industry.

Actually, this skirt has a secret. The panels of terry fabric attached to the jacquard skirt are crafted from slightly modified patterns of sweatshirt sleeves. So, in essence, this skirt has sleeves attached to its hem. The undulating motion of these uncontrollable sleeves is tamed by the waistband of the skirt, which serves as a mediator for the inherently elegant atmosphere of jacquard fabric garments that can't seem to shake off a certain gracefulness. This skirt was sought as an alternative for those who desire respite but don't wish to sacrifice elegance. Perhaps someone who longs for a break but doesn't want to lose their gracefulness would seek out this garment. -SEHIKYO
