LIW – Layered Interdisciplinary Works is a brand that reconstructs the relationship between function and beauty through the process of building and dismantling complex, layered structures, proposing new forms of garments through this continuous act of construction and deconstruction. The name LIW originates from designer Inwoo Lee, while also signifying a channel through which he engages with the world and the cumulative body of works that gradually unfolds and accumulates over time. By intersecting long-term research into garments and tailoring with the residues of personal memory, LIW explores new forms of clothing that resist easy assimilation into existing systems of classification. Through this approach, garments are expanded beyond style or genre, becoming both structural experiments and narrative mediums. LIW regards clothing not as disposable consumer goods, but as organic entities that evolve alongside their wearers, accumulating meaning through time and use. Guided by the belief that objects shaped and refined by human hands through prolonged processes possess an intrinsic value, a significant portion of production is carried out through manual craftsmanship. In this way, LIW aspires to become something akin to a uniform for a small group of individuals — those who possess a complex yet liberated sensibility, and who are willing to devote a part of themselves to the things they genuinely love. LIW – Layered Interdisciplinary Works는 복잡하게 중첩된 구조를 쌓고 다시 해체하는 과정을 통해 기능과 미의 관계를 재구성하고, 새로운 형태의 의복을 제안하는 브랜드이다. 브랜드명 LIW는 디자이너 이인우의 이름에서 비롯되었으며, 동시에 그가 세상과 소통하는 하나의 창구이자 시간의 흐름 속에서 축적되어 가는 작업들의 총체를 의미한다. 오랜 시간에 걸쳐 축적해 온 의류와 테일러링에 대한 연구, 그리고 개인적 기억의 잔해들을 서로 교차시키며, 기존의 분류 체계에 쉽게 귀속되지 않는 새로운 형식의 의복을 탐구한다. LIW는 이를 통해 옷을 단순한 스타일이나 장르가 아닌 하나의 구조적 실험이자 서사로 확장한다. LIW의 의복은 일회적인 소비재가 아니라 시간 속에서 사용자와 함께 변화하며 의미가 축적되는 유기적인 존재로 인식되기를 지향한다. 사람의 손을 통해 오랜 시간 다듬어지고 수많은 공정을 거쳐 완성된 물건 자체가 고유한 가치를 지닌다는 믿음 아래, 제작 과정의 상당 부분을 수작업 방식으로 진행한다. 이처럼 LIW는 자신이 진정으로 좋아하는 것들을 위해 기꺼이 자신의 일부를 내어줄 수 있는, 복잡하면서도 자유로운 감각을 지닌 소수의 사람들에게 하나의 유니폼과 같은 존재가 되고자 한다.
